Nature makes clean

“Pandemics caused by previously unknown diseases are mathematically inevitable. And the reasons are manifold:

  • First, there are more and more people claiming more and more wildlife habitats for themselves.
  • Second, land use has changed drastically.
  • Third, wild and domestic animals are transported around the entire globe – and animal products are shipped around the whole world.
  • Fourth, global travel has increased sharply.

The infection risks that come with this have been keeping Shi and other researchers awake at night for years.” (Chinese virologist Shi Zhengli)
